Where Are You Riding Your Bike?
Risk taking is all about perspective. Imagine you are an 8-year old – you have never left your driveway – riding in the the cul-de-sac seems scary. Now once you get comfortable riding around the cul-de-sac next thing you know you are riding your bike further up the street where your parents can’t see you as a clear expression of your ever expanding risk tolerance.
Then the day comes.
You decide it is time to leave the street and go on an adventure. Guess what? The risk level just went way up! So, you go to your dad and say, “I’m ready to go on a real bike ride, will you please come with me?”. One additional point, “will you please ride behind me so that I feel like I am alone”….
Where are you riding your bike? and Who is riding behind you?
Life is a long bike ride. Too many of us get comfortable riding only on our driveway or street. Could it be that you don’t have the right people (mentors) riding behind you?
Go ask someone to go on a bike ride with you, then leave your street and go on an adventure!
