Let’s face it – life is a bit of astruggle.   Day to day, we out on the edge exploring limitations, fears, and expressing ourselves by choosing to spend time on certain activities and with specific people.

A compass is defined as a navigational instrument that shows directions in a frame of reference that is stationary relative to the surface of the earth.

Do you have a life compass?  Core Values are all the rage these days.  I haven’t been in a meeting in two years that someone hasn’t said, Big Data, SaaS, Data, or Core Values, and in many meetings, people use all four in the same sentence.  For as long as I can remember, I have have used a very simple life compass:

– Dream Big

– Work Hard

– Learn Constantly

– Enjoy Life

Are you dreaming a big enough dream?  If not, ask yourself why.  The future is a wonderful place, it doesn’t exist yet, it can be what we make of it.  Are you working hard?  Be honest, are you seriously working hard(er) than the person right next to you.  What did you learn today?  We live in a new world – a world that requires that we learn constantly each and every day, because change is speeding up.  When is the last time you had fun, I mean, real fun?  Life is a journey not a destination – if you are not having fun on the trip what is the point.
